Burkina Faso : Douze soldats tués dans une attaque dans le nord
On Friday, December 16, armed men attacked the Nassoumbou military post in the commune of Djibo, some thirty kilometers from the Malian border.
The attack on the detachment of the Group of the Anti-Terrorist Forces (GFAT), the president of Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, in his message to the nation.
Vehicles and ammunition were destroyed as well as burnt buildings, he said.
According to the army, “land and air reinforcements were immediately dispatched and raking operations were under way.”
Several attacks have targeted in recent months, northern Burkina Faso. On 12 October, three soldiers were killed in the attack on the army’s forward station in Intagom, a town 5 km from the border with Mali.
Four months earlier, an attack had killed three policemen.
